The Mississauga Furniture Bank is fortunate to have the services of a dedicated group of volunteers who coordinate the organization's committees.

Committee Chairs

Anne Green - Marketing & Social Media Committee Chair

EX-PRESIDENT - PUMPKINSEED PUBLISHING INC.

The purpose of the Marketing Committee is to assist in raising awareness in the community of the positive contribution made by our organization.  The committee achieves this by posting information on Facebook and Twitter.  They also help produce marketing material for media kits, writing articles for publication, YouTube videos and participating in television interviews.
The committee is responsible for assisting with the preparation and distribution of information to corporations to solicit sponsorship.  They compile and review the list of potential corporate sponsors and prepare and distribute letters to request support.

Anne Green is ex-President of Pumpkinseed Publishing Inc. which publishes both the Mississauga Kids print guides and websites with information about what’s going on in Mississauga for kids and families. She is active on both Twitter and Facebook and has been called a “walking network”. Before relocating to Canada Anne was a Board Member for the Regional Affordable Housing Corporation in Bennington, Vermont. She has a Bachelors Degree in Communication and Elementary Education.

 

Katherine Ridolfo - Volunteer Committee Chair

Family Support Worker

The Volunteer Committee is responsible for recruiting, interviewing, evaluating, and placing volunteers into various functions committees or activities. They interview volunteers to discover the skills and interests of each volunteer. Orient each volunteer to MFB, and place them into the appropriate committee or task group. They follow up with volunteers periodically to see if they are satisfied, and thank volunteers regularly for their efforts.
The Volunteer Committee coordinates with other committees that need volunteers such as events and marketing.  They must be aware of the function and needs of each committee or event.  They attend meetings for other committees or events as needed. They provide input about the Volunteer of the Year award and other volunteer recognition.  They create a volunteer intake, orientation, placement, tracking of hours, and thank you process for volunteers.

Katherine currently works full time as a Family Support Worker with a non profit social service agency in Toronto. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Disability Studies from Ryerson University. She has 30+ years of direct, progressive experience in the social service sector. Her background includes a strong comittment to social justice, breaking systemic barriers that directly affect the treatment of oppressed and vulnerable populations and to volunteering in her community in which she has lived for over 21 years.

 

Jenn Landa - Fundraising Committee Chair

Event Coordinator - JEWELL CATERING

The Fundraising Committee is dedicated to raising brand awareness and funds for the Mississauga Furniture Bank through organizing and implementing social events that bring the community together.

Jenn is an experienced event planner specializing in social events (private parties, weddings & fundraisers). She has a Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University in Psychology and Sociology (Honours) and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Event Management. With years of customer service and event industry experience, she is dedicated to giving back and making a difference in the lives of Mississauga community members.

 

Vacant - Finance Committee Chair

The Finance Committee assists the Treasurer with maintaining financial policies and strategy, including review of the annual operating budget. They provide guidance to the Board and management about policies relating to cash flow, cash management and working capital. They recommend to the Board investment policies and guidelines for reserve funds, oversee investment performance and recommend changes to the investment strategy as appropriate. They review the annual tax returns and provide advice on other finance matters as appropriate. The Finance Committee assists with grant applications as needed. They review the terms and conditions of major grants and contracts.
